Dating back to 1765, and previously known as the Red Briar and later the Lord Wellington, the Inn has expanded over the years to encompass what was originally a row of artisans’ cottages.

It was used as a recruiting post by local regiments during the Napoleonic War and a cast iron plaque of the famous first Duke of Wellington, unearthed during restoration work, hangs above the open fireplace in
the bar.
